Photobooth for Goodbye: Interactive WebScope
Web Design, Creative Coding, IllustrationYear
2025
Photobooth for Goodbye is my first attempt in building an small interactive website with Javascript library p5, HTML, and CSS. The idea came along in the final month of my junior year in college, when it became increasingly clear that a lot of goodbyes are on the way. With the purpose of building something for my community to interact with real-time and treasure our last moments together as students, I built this online photobooth, where people can draw, write notes, put on nostalgic filter, and play with custom frames and stickers. After taking photos, people can download it, and print out as Risograph postcards.
The process from researching, sketching the UI, learning Javascript, HTML and CSS to testing the interface through VSCode tooke about 2 weeks. I had to narrow down the list of functions typically used in a photobooth/ postcard-maker to 7 (!) in order to ensure the most intuitive (and beginner-friendly ;)) website.
The final interface, and my roomate behind me, on our last day of college, right after submission of this project!
The website is open live on our school Showcase for guests coming by to use.
